Running for the Fallen. Standing with Their Families.
More than 600 runners, families, and supporters gathered at the Frank Bland Regional Training Center for SEBA’s 4th Annual Honor Our Fallen & Families 5K. We are deeply grateful to everyone who came out to be part of such a meaningful day. The event is dedicated to remembering our deputies who made the ultimate sacrifice and supporting the families they left behind.
This year’s event commemorated Deputy Hector Cuevas, Jr. and Deputy Andrew Nuñez, who were both killed in the line of duty in 2025.
The morning began with reflection as the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Honor Guard presented the colors and the community paused together to honor the lives and legacies of those who gave everything in service to others.
Deputies ran beside families. Friends walked together. Children pushed themselves toward their own small finish lines. Some runners carried flags. Others carried memories.
What unfolded across the dirt roads and open landscape was more than a race. It was a powerful display of community, of people showing up to stand beside the families of our fallen heroes and ensure their loved ones are never forgotten.
To everyone who ran, walked, volunteered, supported, and helped make this event possible — thank you. Your presence reminded us that remembrance lives in action: in every step taken together, in every family supported, and in every community that refuses to forget.
