The landscape of our community has drastically changed in the last 72 hours. Our members have been called upon to protect the rights of those who wish to have their voices heard. Unfortunately, the message of the peaceful protesters is being overshadowed by criminals.

I know our law enforcement has been stretched thin. We recognize your unflinching dedication to our community and say THANK YOU.

To all the members of our communities who are watching this: we are all outraged. The disgusting abuse of power and criminal behavior of those disgraced former police officers, absolutely should be dealt with swiftly and in accordance to the law. Our sincere condolences go out to the loved ones of George Floyd.

To our partners in the community, you have our ongoing commitment to work towards solutions. SEBA has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with our churches, local advocates, non profits and state legislators. We value our relationships and open dialogue. We may not always agree, but we absolutely both want what’s best for our communities.

We are peace officers. Our job is to protect our community from those who seek to cause them harm. We take pride in our job, fully knowing we are the focus of constant and intense scrutiny. We won’t shy away from protecting you or your freedoms.

Our members are weary from being spread thin. But we remain strong, not just because it’s our job, but even more so because it’s in our heart. Even when we are vilified for it. As we move forward together, we will not deter our focus to make this community a better and safer place for all who live in it.

We stand for justice. We stand for the preservation of life. We stand for progress and We stand for peace.
