Everyday Heroes: A Birthday Wish Comes True
While responding to a call for service, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy A. Alvarado, assigned to the Highland Station, met a young boy whose birthday was just around the corner. While speaking with the family, she learned he was a huge Spider-Man fan and that his biggest birthday wish was a bicycle.
Rather than letting that moment pass, Deputy Alvarado reached out to SEBA to see if there was a way to help. Through the SEBA Everyday Heroes Program, that wish became a reality.
Working together, SEBA was able to provide the young boy with a brand-new bicycle and a Spider-Man helmet, giving him a birthday surprise he won't soon forget.
For Deputy Alvarado, moments like these are at the heart of why she chose a career in law enforcement.
“The reason I joined law enforcement was to give back to the community,” Alvarado said. “I grew up without having much, and now being in a position where I can help my community, it feels really good to be able to do that for the people that I serve.”
