Always – A Promise to Never Forget
Throughout the beginning of May, SEBA stood in solemn remembrance and unwavering support as we honored the lives and legacies of our fallen heroes. This month carried deep meaning for our department, our members, and most importantly, the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our communities.
Together with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, we proudly honored Deputy Hector Cuevas, Jr. and Deputy Andrew Nunez as their names were added to peace officer memorials locally, at the California Peace Officers’ Memorial in Sacramento, and at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. These ceremonies served as powerful reminders that their sacrifice will never be forgotten and that their legacy will forever remain etched into the history of law enforcement service.
While the memorials stand as permanent tributes, what mattered most throughout these ceremonies was standing beside the families of Hector and Andrew. At every step — from local tributes to state and national memorials — SEBA remained committed to supporting the loved ones carrying the unimaginable weight of loss. We walked alongside them not only in remembrance, but in unity, compassion, and enduring gratitude.
The beginning of May was not simply about ceremonies or memorial walls. It was about honoring two heroes, embracing their families, and reaffirming that they will always remain part of our law enforcement family. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
